Weather Permitting? Four Seasons Grilling

Cold Weather Grilling

How important has grilling become to us as a culture here in the United States? It’s become so important that it’s a booming two billion plus a year market. But the lingering question is how has something that is so dependent on varying factors, such as the weather or the right equipment, become such a marketable thing. It’s because now there are ways to make this a year round activity.
Winter-grilling is a phrase that only a few years ago, you could mention to your buddy that you really want some burgers and to capture all the essence that is the right seasonings and the char that blends itself in so nicely with the juicy meats that you’ve cooked up. The only problem with that, is your buddy looks at you like you’re a crazy person, because the weather outside has dipped below 20 degrees, there is eighteen inches of snow and ice on the ground and the lid to your grill is frozen shut with a sheet of ice so thick, you could play hockey on it. The weather outside is already frightful enough without having to dress up in every piece of clothing you own to drive on ice and snow infested roads the three miles down to the gas station to try and pick up a propane tank because you didn’t think you needed to refill it since it was the heart of winter.
But now, winter-grilling is even easier and accessible, especially thanks to products such as our Pan Grill-It™. So how about you turn your thermostat up to 85, walk around your house or apartment in shorts and a t-shirt and sit comfortably on your couch with the TV playing your favorite winter time movies, such as A Christmas Story or It’s A Wonderful Life, while you do all of your winter-grilling from the comfort of your own kitchen.
“I never thought of grilling as a year round event,” a recent Pan Grill-It™ customer told us. “When the summer ended, the cover went on our grill and that’s the last we thought of it until April or May. Winter-grilling just didn’t seem feasible, and nobody wanted to deal with the weather or the hassle of standing outside decked out in snow suits and extra coats, just to get some burgers or steaks that were going to be frozen again almost as soon as we’d be able to take them off the grill.”That’s another thing of the past. With the Pan Grill-It™, even though the temperatures outside are below freezing, it absolutely doesn’t mean that your food would have to be, and you still get that fresh off the grill taste. The cast-iron insert fits in any ordinary twelve inch pan and after you let it heat up after only a few moments, you’ll be ready to get your winter-grilling on with no hassle, or breaking your fingers or hand trying to turn the knob on a frozen propane tank, or using your car scraper to break off any ice or snow that’s surely collected on the top of your grill. Plus, you won’t have to wait for an hour for the temperatures to finally get up to par. So when you’re standing by your window with a coffee or hot chocolate in hand, watching as the first flakes of the first snowfall start to come down and rest gently on your lawn or your balcony, the smells that will encompass your house will be that of summer and a good time as the burgers and steak and bratwursts and sausages and grilled vegetables you’ve been craving since August will ensnare your sense of smell and taste as the Pan Grill-It™ made your winter-grilling experience a whole lot easier.

Outdoor Grill Kicked-up

Outdoor Grill

Let’s admit, that expensive new grill with its shinny new grill grate you just purchased looks inviting for some tasty vittles. However, after many uses it’s falling apart. Sure you care for it and go through several steel brushes to make sure the grate is clean, but it’s often the quality of the grate which ultimately shows its rearing face over time. Bottom line, most quality grills you buy can last you a lifetime but grates will not. They are often exposed to the elements and begin to rust and most cases fall apart. Well! Here’s an alternative; try placing the PAN Grill-it on the grate itself. Sure at first it feels like your double dipping and your thinking, why would I do such a thing? Think of your PAN Grill-it as your meal-ticket; It’s clean, pre-seasoned, its cast iron which of course does add iron to your diet, it savors the flavors of all of your grilling experiences and adds wonderful flavors to your food , and is a great conductor of heat. I recently had some friends over to watch football and had grilled NY Strips and T-Bones on the PAN Grill-it™ on my outdoor grill. As they began to eat, they all started a conversation as to what it was I seasoned the steaks with. I grinned and said nothing but a few throws of some Worcestershire blended with a tad of A-1. The steaks were simply just a wicked combo of flavors being released from past meals. I’m not saying our steaks tasted like the morning sausage and ham I grilled that morning or the halibut from the night before but, it’s something that any cast iron cooking enthusiast could attest to. I have bought many grilling and cooking utensils over the years. Many of which I thought were going to make cooking easier, more enjoyable and of course fun! However, most of them had too much hype and didn’t do what they said they would or were just poorly constructed pieces of usefulness. This is something that WILL last you a lifetime. The PAN Grill-it™ is a new runner-up in the category of cheese and wine. It simply gets better with age and of course use. I encourage you to be the first amongst your friends and family and shock-taste their taste buds with this new innovated and healthier way of grilling.

Grilling for One

Grilling For One

It’s a Friday night. All of your friends are planning on meeting you out at your local hot spot for a few drinks, maybe catch whatever game is on TV that night, do some dancing. Or perhaps, your significant other and the kids are all gone for the weekend leaving you the whole house to yourself. There are a number of reasons these days that people go day by day needing to cook themselves a quick meal and a small one as they’re feeding just themselves. Everyone has been there at least once or twice in the past few months. And we’re all completely aware of how much of a pain it is to fire up an entire grill to cook one burger or one chicken breast or a couple of hot dogs for just one person. The wait alone on the grill firing up is almost enough to turn you off to the entire idea. Then you may be out of propane anyway, and who wants to head all the way out to refill their tank for just one quick meal? Or who wants to sit and wait as the charcoal takes forever to stay lit and get everything up to par, especially if you’re trying to do a little winter-grilling, as that time of year has hit us again. Plus, there’s all the dishes and extra cleaning for such an insignificant amount food needed to feed yourself. But what you do know is that you’re hungry and you want what you want, without having to worry about anyone else entering the equation.

Enter the Pan Grill-It™, a brand new concept, a twelve inch cast-iron pan insert that fits into any normal frying pan you’ve got sitting around your house. All you need to do is pop this bad boy into that frying pan and in no time, you’ll be ready to get some of the pre-seasoned, grilled, cast-iron deliciousness that you’ve been craving all day, knowing that it was just you that you’re feeding. Want a burger? No problem. Throw some bacon and onions on right next to it and let it grill up perfectly as each meat and vegetable suck in each other’s taste to give you an exquisite meal right from your stove top. Chicken breast? No problem, the Pan Grill-It™ can handle that too and you can pick your favorite kind of bun and let it grill toast right next to your chicken for a great chicken sandwich. You’re not making a buffet, remember? This is just all for you.
“The Pan Grill-It is actually kind of amazing for me,” a friend and Pan Grill-It™ customer, Bret, told us. “I am a single guy and I’ve got a roommate who works in a hospital, so she’s always in and out and never has a set schedule. Being in sales, I’m always on the go as well, and when I’m not feeling up to one of the big chain fast food joints or setting up my entire grill for just a quick meal, I can use my cast-iron insert and be set to go with ease and quickness. And the cleanup is quick and completely painless.”

So on that Friday night, when you are sitting back and thinking about what to eat or how much effort you really want to put into your meal as you’ll be the only one eating it, why don’t you just do yourself a favor and pickup a Pan Grill-It™ today, set it in a pan right on your stove, and grill yourself up some delicious dinner before heading out for a great night on the town, relaxing at home with a good movie or book, or doing whatever it is to help you unwind.

It's Football Season!

It's Football Season

The sound of your alarm is going off, but you don’t even need it. You’ve been wide eyed and awake since before the first crack of morning light. You’ve double and triple checked everything in your car or truck that’s packed to the brim with the necessities you’ll need for the day. You head away from your house and eventually get to your spot and park. You step out of your car and your feet hit the morning dew that rests gently on the grass. You cheer and high five your friends that have joined you as car next to car and tent next to tent pack in tight in whatever field, parking lot or area that could find space in. The sounds of fight songs riddle the air joined with the sumptuous smells that taken over every bit of your sense of smell. Hot dogs, bratwursts, ribs, chicken, steak, pork, grilled vegetables and all the other aromas hit you instantly. You know you’re home.
It is football season again. The feelings you get each and every year about your favorite team are the same feelings that infect millions of American’s every fall. And one of the biggest mainstays of football is tailgating. And one of the key principles of tailgating is the meals that you cook up on your grill.

The only unfortunate problem that you face each and every Saturday or Sunday morning when you head out to see your favorite team is the hassle of packing up your grill and managing to fit it in your car when you’ve got a thousand other things to pack up, especially your friends. Not anymore...

The Pan Grill-it™ Is a new and innovative way to get all of your favorite foods grilled up on an easy to manage twelve inch pan insert. The cast-iron insert already comes pre-seasoned, so there’s no need to worry about adding any additional flavor to it. It comes with the added bonus of only taking up twelve inches as well, so you won’t have to try and fit your grill in between Bill or Steve or John or Mike.
The Pan Grill-it™ will also come in handy for all of the football nuts who watch their teams all the way into January and February. Tired of having your charcoal go out on you or not keeping a flame lit when the temperatures don’t cooperate with either you or your team that day? No problem. You can still have all the necessities to make sure you and your buddies are taken care of before the game.
The Pan Grill-It™ was fantastic for me. We took it to our first tailgate of the season here in Michigan,” one customer told us. “The early part of the day was nice with sunshine but as the actual game drew closer and closer, the wind and rain started whipping around, obviously not great barbecuing situations. But with our little camp stove and the grill insert, we got everything cooked up exactly as we wanted and have always done. And let me tell you, the food came out fantastic. Better than I’ve ever had at my usual tailgate and the biggest perk was the small amount of time I had to take to clean up.”

Rain, snow or shine, the Pan Grill-It™ allows you to enjoy the taste of barbecuing in its healthiest form in any season of the year.  Whether it is inside your kitchen, apartment, camping, at the park, or your favorite sporting event, the PAN Grill-it™ has you covered.

Apartment/ Condo Grilling

Apartment/Condo Grilling

There are a lot of perks for living in an apartment, but certainly on the flip side of that token, there are just as many drawbacks. While it's nice living in an area that's safe and houses what you need without having to worry about mortgages, property taxes, your own personal upkeep, it's also just as bothersome listening to neighbors stomp around above your head, the cramped spaces, and listening to other people's arguments through the paper-thin walls that separate you from another family.
But there are more perks to apartment living as well. For instance, your community could have a pool, a workout room, a laundry room for free either in your unit or on site. Plus they pay some of your extra bills like garbage or water right? All great things, but no matter which way you slice it, there will always be negatives. Like the fact that you can't have that dog or cat you always wanted, you don't have enough space to make a room dedicated simply to memorabilia or your own office. And generally, most apartment complexes nowadays won't let you have a grill on your balcony. They throw one charcoal grill down in the community area and expect that to be enough for an area that can house anywhere from the hundreds to the thousands of people. It isn't right and it isn't fair to you, the person who wants to grill and loves the taste of fresh barbecue. But, don't fret, because that's where the cast iron insert comes into play. The sturdy and compact insert fits into any of your twelve inch or larger skillet or 10.5" griddle. You'll have no problems cooking up anything you want for yourself or your guests should you have company over, and it will have that fresh, right off the grill taste you're craving, without having to fight the masses in your complex for that one beat up grill down by the pool.
We've all lived in or been in an apartment at least once or twice in our lives and understand that space isn't exactly abundant. Which is what's so great about the insert, because of its size, you can easily store it right inside your oven or any of the adjoining cupboards you have in your kitchen. Not to mention it's incredibly easy to clean by hand using a plastic scrub brush and you won't have to worry about busting out large grill brushes on your 5'X3' balcony. "I love grilling," an apartment dweller, Steve, told me. "But the downfall is that I live in an apartment that of course doesn't allow grilling due to local codes and laws. So they give us this really old grill that's pretty beat up and I just don't feel like going down there and using it. Plus, when it's raining or snowing or we have some sort of bad weather, I can just pop my insert right on a skillet or griddle in my kitchen and still get the type of food that I'm craving."

Cast Iron: A Healthy Alternative

Cast Iron: A Healthy Alternative

It's no secret these days that healthy eating has become a huge part of mainstream American life. Recent studies proven in a recent CNBC article show that "nearly two-thirds of all adult Americans are overweight and that child obesity is triple what is was a generation ago." Those numbers are absolutely staggering, and it's completely understandable as to why the dieting industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. With the health craze that is sweeping the nation and many people looking for anyway to get healthier, drop a few pounds or whatever else it is you're looking to do, you may wonder where a cast iron cookware fits in and how it can help you achieve those goals.
All of us are familiar with the cookware we use, and the explosion of non-stick cookware and other like-minded products. They are really convenient, cheap and the best part is that your food won't stick to your cookware when you're fixing up dinner. However, most people are unaware of the damages that come from cooking on such a material. The dangers are so much that the United States government is mandating all companies that produce non-stick cookware and these products to change the chemicals they're using by 2015. When heated up right on your own stove, non-stick pans release at least six toxic gases, including two carcinogens, two global pollutants, and MFA, a chemical lethal to humans at low doses. Not exactly happy with that convenience now, are you?
Enter cast iron. Iron is an essential part to staying healthy. Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency in the United States, according to our own CDC. Iron is what carries oxygen from our lungs through our blood streams, it helps promote healthy digestion and it affects several of our organ functions. It's the leading cause of anemia in this country as well, which can delay normal infant motor function, can prevent pregnant mothers from having healthy kids and could lead to the death of the child and also leads to fatigue in adults and can prevent them from doing physical work. So it's obvious that iron is an absolute must in our dietary needs. But how do we acquire it with ease?
It's proven that cooking on cast iron can help your food absorb iron that gets into your bloodstream and can help prevent things like anemia or deficiencies. It especially helps when you're cooking acidic foods, so say you're feeling a little fatigued and want to try to pick up your pace, why not just have yourself a little lunch and when you're cooking up a chicken breast to help stay lean, grill up some red or green peppers to go with it to give your body that little iron boost it needs and is also a great way to drop some pounds.
Some of the great benefits to making your life healthier with cast iron, are using oil less or non stick sprays or gobs of butter to get that non stick effect or to add some flavor to your food. A well seasoned or pre-seasoned cast iron pan skillet or griddle is virtually non stick and will give you all the healthy benefits of not adding chemicals or extra fat to your foods. You won't find the coating on your non stick pans breaking off and cooking into your food and having your lean steak come with more than you bargained for. The benefits are all there. It's chemical free, it will immensely help your blood stream and overall health, and you won't be releasing all of those toxins and gasses into your home.
