Cookware Buying Decisions- Critical Impact

I wasn’t till just last year, news reports went on a frenzy highlighting the dangerous health risks associated with cooking with non-stick cookware. The dangers are so much that the U.S government is mandating all companies that produce these non-stick cookware coatings and these products to change the chemicals they’re using by 2015. On high-heat , Teflon pans release at least six toxic gases, including two carcinogens, two global pollutants, and MFA, a chemical lethal to humans at low doses.

That’s pretty scary….their going to mandate a change in the chemical make-up to what other chemicals?  So then, how do they determine and regulate what’s safe, if it hasn’t been tested over time like the product Teflon.

But what’s worst, why is the government waiting till 2015?  These toxic pans come from oversea and make up more than half of our pans in the U.S. So it’s obvious what this is doing and will continue to do, to our planet when buried in landfills.

Waiting, wanting and wishing for this to change is rather silly. But, through reputable media channels and sources and buying USA Made cookware, we can make a huge impact on our overall health.  Cast iron cookware is and will always be my choice. It’s healthy plus, you melt it down, recycle and re-use. If your looking for a reason to explore cast iron cookware, you can find fun products and uses at PAN Grill-it Made in USA.
